Art Deco inspired brand and website for Ashley’s Portrait Co

CUSTOM BRAND AND WEBSITE PROJECT

Ashley’s Portrait Co is a wedding photography and videography business run by Ashley and her team in St Louis, Missouri and beyond.

Ashley wanted a brand that was different to the traditional light and neutral wedding photographers and create a vibe that was moodier and more authentic to her clients but still had a luxurious feel. Modern art deco was a key influence and the challenge was to create a brand that did not feel too pastiche but was individual and reflected the fun and approachable personality of the business.

After researching local competition, establishing her core clients and the values and feelings she wanted associated with the business, I created two different creative directions to help narrow down the design brief. One Ashley had chosen her preferred option, I focused on how choosing fonts and colours that reflected this style and designing brand elements that gave a nod to the art deco era but still felt fresh and modern.

To complement the moody theme, we stayed away from traditional light white wedding colour palettes and embraced deep navy, charcoal and gold to help make her beautiful images pop. The project was completed with a custom-built Squarespace website utilising all the brand elements to showcase her photography and services.
